Depth analysis of silver ion antibacterial agent!
Release time:2020-09-13

Silver ion is a positively charged cation formed by metal silver losing more than one electron, such as Ag1+, Ag2+, Ag3+, etc. Existed in the form of an aqueous solution, silver ions have oxidation, often used for sterilization and so on.

Silver ion antimicrobial agent in many textile antimicrobial agents belong to the effect and safety is relatively high variety, then how to distinguish nano silver ion and electrolytic silver ion antimicrobial agent? What is the difference between the two antibacterial?

1. Molecules, atoms, electrons, ions

A molecule is the smallest particle that exists independently and maintains the chemical properties of a substance.

An atom is the smallest particle of matter. An atom consists of a nucleus and the electrons surrounding the nucleus.

The entire polarity of an atom is neutral. If an atom has not the same number of protons and electrons, it is an ion. If the number of electrons is greater than the number of protons, the ion polarity is negative; otherwise, the ion polarity is positive. Ions with negative polarity are called anions and ions with positive polarity are called cations.

In a chemical reaction, metallic atoms lose their outermost electrons and nonmetallic atoms gain electrons, thus giving the participating atoms an electric charge. Atoms with an electric charge are called ions, those with a positive charge are called cations, and those with a negative charge are called anions.

2. The volume of nanometer and ion

Nanometer is a unit of length, is one billionth of a meter (meter → centimeter → millimeter → micron → nanometer), about one millionth of the thickness of a hair.

1 micron = 1000 nanometer, namely 1 ~ 999 nanometer units can be called nanometer.

Atoms are ten millionths of a millimeter (mm) in size. One thousandth of a micron (μm).

So you can see that a nanometer is about the size of 10 ions.

Nano silver manufacturing technology, Japan is high for 4 ~ 5 nanometer units. Namely, one nano-silver powder particle can contain 40 ~ 50 ions (atoms). In general silver nanometer manufacturing technology, the size of the powder particles in 10 ~ 20 nanometer units. That's 100 to 200 ions (atoms).

3. Microbes are measured in microns

For example, a standard paramecium - a small, single-celled freshwater organism - is about two microns across.

The diameter of the cocci is about 0.75 to 1.25 microns (μm), the length of the bacilli is about 2 to 5 microns (μm), and the length of the spiralis is about 100 to 200 microns (μm).

Viruses are much smaller than bacteria and must be seen through an electron microscope.

Ions (atoms) are tens of thousands or hundreds of thousandths the size of bacteria. As a cation, silver ions are easily absorbed by anion bacteria and enter the body of bacteria.

4. Bacteria reproduce by dividing. Viruses reproduce by replicating themselves

Bacteria and viruses multiply very fast, increasing exponentially. It usually takes only 20 to 30 minutes for a cell to divide. Conditions are suitable, the virus replication cycle is short, within a few minutes may have to multiply millions of times.

5. Antimicrobial, sterilization, disinfection, bacteriostasis

Anti-microbial is a generic term that includes both bactericidal and bacteriostatic bacteria.

Microbiocide: The process of killing microbial vegetarians and propagules in a system to be treated.

Disinfection: A process that destroys microorganisms in a disinfection system, usually ineffective against spores. Disinfectants do not need to kill all microorganisms in the system, they need to meet predetermined treatment requirements, usually removing or deactivating disease-causing and disease-causing microorganisms in the system.

Bacteriostasis: The action of inhibiting the growth and reproduction of microorganisms, the process of inhibiting the activity of microorganisms in the system to be treated so that their reproductive capacity is reduced or stopped.
